How to Pick the Right Size When Buying Online

How to Pick the Right Size When Buying Online

Sizing is the number one worry in online clothes shopping, and it is also the most solvable one. A tape measure, five minutes, and a size chart remove most of the guesswork. Here is the process that works.

Measure Yourself, Not Your Old Clothes

Take three measurements with a soft tape: bust at the fullest point, natural waist, and hip at the widest point. Stand relaxed and keep the tape level. Sizes vary between brands, so a letter or number from another label is a rough guess at most; your own measurements are the only numbers that travel.

Read the Size Chart Every Time

Match your measurements against the size chart rather than picking the size you usually wear. If your bust lands in one size and your hip in another, size for the larger measurement in a fitted piece, or for the area the garment is designed to skim in a relaxed one.

Understand Flat Measurements

Some size information is given as flat measurements, taken across the garment lying flat. Doubling a flat width gives the garment's full circumference, which you can compare against your body measurement plus the breathing room you like. Comparing a flat measurement against a piece you already own and love is one of the most accurate checks available.

Factor In Fabric and Cut

A knit with stretch forgives a borderline size; a woven fabric does not. A relaxed cut is meant to hang away from the body, so sizing up defeats its shape, while a fitted cut rewards precision. When the description names the intended fit, believe it.

When in Doubt, Ask

If two sizes both look possible, email us with your measurements before ordering and we will help you choose. Common sizing questions are answered on our FAQs page, and if the size still lands wrong, the return window and flat shipping rate in our Shipping Policy keep the fix simple.
